“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”

BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Volume on the New York Stock Exchange has dropped 26% in the second quarter to the lowest levels since 2001, even though total trading in U.S. stocks rose, as alternative equity markets continue to take market share, Bloomberg reported. Firms such as Bats Trading Inc. and Direct Edge ECN are winning more business, according to the report. Market forecasters who use technical analysis say relying solely on data from the NYSE and Nasdaq Stock Market may create an incomplete picture as alternative venues take more trading volume, Bloomberg reported. Shares of NYSE Euronext are off more than 25% year to date, while Nasdaq OMX has lost more than 33%.

'Squawk Box' Guest Warns of $12-15-a-Gallon Gas

“[Maxwell] expects an oil-induced financial crisis to start somewhere in the 2010 to 2015 timeframe,” Energytechstocks.com reported. “He said that, unlike the recession the U.S. appears to be in today, ‘This will not be six months of hell and then we come out of it.’ Rather, Maxwell expects this financial crisis to last at least 10 or 12 years, as the world goes through a prolonged period of price-induced rationing (eg, oil up to $300 a barrel and U.S. pump prices up to $15 a gallon).”

Wow is this my America?
Either this is a glimmer of hope for this country that someone so important can draw this big a crowd, OR this size of the crowd is relative and Paris Hilton can still pull 3 times more people giving a speech about her experience at the nail salon....
